When FAITH Overcame FEAR

When FAITH overcame FEAR

Four years ago, on 4th May 2021, I walked out of the hospital after a 17-day battle with the Delta variant of COVID-19.

When I was wheeled into the ICU, fear consumed me. Surrounded by pain, strapped to a CPAP helmet (non-invasive ventilator) with high pressure oxygen gushing in, sweating profusely, unable to see without my glasses—I felt the raw fear of death.

But soon, something shifted. I chose faith over fear. Since then, every single day, every hour, I told myself that I will overcome this challenge.

I made a promise to myself—to be the most positive person in the ICU. I started waving out & giving a smile to the staff & other patients and chatted up with them. I also sent out WhatsApp messages quoting the famous Terminator dialogues – “I WILL BE BACK”.

One day, my pulse dropped to zero. The team brought me back—chest thumps and all. I woke up in the MRI scanner, asking, “Where am I?” and I WAS BACK, indeed…

That moment changed me.

I realised life will throw us into situations —at work, on health & in relationships —that feel overwhelming, that will scare us.

But faith will help us breathe through fear.

Trust the process, believe in yourself, and you’ll discover: faith always finds a way.

I have done it once; will do it again, and again..

And as one of my ex-colleagues once told me – “डर के आगे अभिजीत हैं”
